Riverwalk District Wine Walk Saturday June 18 Helping to Raise Money for Artown!

RENO, NV – June 6, 2011 – The Riverwalk District Wine Walk on Saturday, June 18 from 2 to 5 p.m. in downtown Reno will benefit Artown Give $3 to Keep Artown Free campaign.

The Riverwalk Merchants Association presents the original and very popular Wine Walk the third Saturday of every month, along the Truckee River and neighboring streets in the Downtown Reno Riverwalk District.

Each month the Riverwalk chooses a new charity that will benefit from a portion of the Wine Walk proceeds. This month the Riverwalk is proud to announce that they will be supporting Artown and assist in their fundraising efforts through the Give $3 to Keep Atrown Free campaign. The Riverwalk will generously match up to $500 for every dollar raised during the June Wine Walk.

In 2010 Artown started a major fundraising effort to help underwrite programming and keep Artown events free for the more than 300,000 attendees. Inspired by other festivals throughout the country, the objective of Give $3 to Keep Artown Free is to encourage attendees to donate $3 in order for Artown to continue to provide the Reno community with one of the largest and most comprehensive arts and culture festivals in the United States. In 2011, every $1 donated to the campaign will be matched by the Robert S & Dorothy J Keyser Foundation, up to $30,000.

You must be 21 or older to participate in Wine Walks. Visit any participating Riverwalk District merchant on Wine Walk day and for a $20 wine tasting fee and a valid photo I.D. you will receive a wine glass, wrist band and a map of the merchants pouring wine.  Parking is available in public lots.

Saturday, June 18th you can expect downtown Reno to be bustling with food, wine, and Artown volunteers actively handing out the first official Artown guides with this summers line-up. Make sure to stick around after the event for a chance to win over $700 in raffle prizes for gift certificates to local businesses, tickets to Artown events and more. Plus enjoy free pedal-cars from the pedal-cab company to transport you between the Wine Walk and Nevada Museum of Art for the Museum's Egyptian Bazaar.

In addition to Wine Walk sales, donation boxes will be displayed inside various local merchant shops, allowing individuals the opportunity to support this years Artown event. Every $3 donation keeps the music, performances and dancers on stage and the movies on the screen. Every $1 donated to the campaign will be matched by the Robert S & Dorothy J Keyser Foundation, up to $30,000.

This June Wild River Grille's
“Dinner With Your Dog” Supports the Nevada Humane Society

    EVERY MONDAY NIGHT, DINE
ALFRESCO WITH YOUR PET, WHILE SUPPORTING THE NEVADA HUMANE SOCIETY.

RENO, NEV. (May 30, 2011) — Beginning June 1, 2011 a portion from each entree purchased on Monday's throughout the month at Wild River Grille, will be donated to the Nevada Humane Society,The Nevada Humane Society is a non-profit organization incorporated in 1932. It was originally created to address the horrible suffering of local stray animals, which were systematically rounded up and held in a giant pen on Glendale Avenue.
Through the tireless efforts of Enid Johnson and Genevra Kimpton, the City of Reno finally recognized the need for a higher standard — and the Nevada Humane Society was born.
The Society views itself as a community service organization. And  firmly believes that animals, domestic and wild alike, are a legitimate part of our community. Their many programs and services are designed to address the needs of all animals — and to provide support, education, and assistance for all the people that care about them.

Most importantly, they want the community to realize that their efforts on behalf of the animals would not be possible without the communities support through events such as “Dinner with your Dog”. The donations they receive allow the society to continue to run their programs and services. The  generosity of their donors has enabled the society to expand their coverage and develop new ideas to help our animal friends.

This June customers are invited to dine at the Wild River Grille. A portion form every entree purchased on Monday nights will be donated to the Nevada Humane Society.
The society provides care to over 8,000 animals each year. Some animals are sick, injured, or traumatized when they arrive at the shelter. Whatever the problem, they receive needed care through the societies clinic and trained staff. It costs an average of $240 to care for each animal, including spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchipping, and daily care until they can be placed into a new adoptive home. If you would like to help the Nevada Humane Society continue their mission, please visit their website at www.nevadahumanesociety.org or call them directly at (775) 856-2000.

“Wild River Grille is a pet-friendly establishment and dogs are always allowed on our expansive Riverside patio but we felt that this event has become such a success we would continue the tradition this summer”  Says Valerie Moore.

All dogs visiting Wild river Grille receive a complimentary bowl of water and a treat!
The Nevada Humane Society depends on the support of the community and events such as Wild River Grille's “Dinner with your Dog”. Last year Wild River Grille was able to donate hundreds of dollars to the organization to assist in saving the lives of animals.
