Riverwalk Businesses Raise Funds to Rehabilitate Downtown Reno

Within the past year the Reno Riverwalk Merchants Association  a coalition of 40+ businesses located along the Riverwalk in Downtown Reno has actively participated in the beautification of downtown Reno.  With the lack of funding from city organization the business owners have combined their efforts to keep downtown beautiful.

The (RWMA) has already donated to the beautification of downtown Reno by replacing 116 brightly colored identifying flags at a cost of $3,489.00, and provided the remaining funds needed to replant the Wingfield park flower baskets at the cost of $4,800.00. The (RWMA) recently applied for a grant that if awarded would enable them to complete their goal of removing the overgrown and neglected vegetable garden on West St., re-landscape the median, oversee maintenance, install public art and continue their goal to promote Downtown Reno as a cultural, historical, safe, and family-friendly area.

In the coming months the (RWMA) will be launching a new campaign that will help raise funding for the City of Reno. The funds raised will help establish a safer and cleaner area downtown by improving signage, repairing damaged artwork, generating cleaning programs and  proposing new landscaping concepts. Anyone can donate funds and all donations can be made through the website at http://www.renoriver.org.
